If you are ever in a band, play bass. It is the best intrument. The strings are of a proper thikness that you can actually get hold of, you don't need a plectrum to find the things.
MY KIT
Apart from the aforementioned bass, which is a low end Yamaha that I'm happy to throw about a bit, I use a bunch of electronics on stage. The backbone of this is the Alesis mixer and the iMac. Coupled to this is a controller keyboard, also Alesis and a set of Korg pads. The mixer takes in the bass - via a Boss multi effects unit(the ME6b), Tushars drums, the Theremin and all the sequnced bits from the iMac. So I do a lot of what a sound engineer out at the desk would usually do.
My bass is pretty much always distorted, I like it to have a lot of crunch. I often shift the whole thing up an octave using the Boss unit for solos, and down an octave for those deep dub basslines.
whats on my stereo
ok, new stuff includes Portico Quartet - jazz, but they use Hang drums, seen these drums/instruments used at festivals a lot in the past but this is the first I've seen them used 'properly'..!
loving the new Soulwax mix of MGMT's 'Kids'. bangin and mashin.
